What is a sound bath?

Sound bathing is the practice of intentionally resting in waves of harmonic sound which envelop and surround your body. A sound bath involves resting comfortably in a chair or reclining on a mat or blanket.

The sound frequencies of each crystal bowl correlate to chakras in the body to open and cleanse the energy system, and ultimately raise the vibration of mind and body. The pure, high frequency sounds of crystal bowls resonate and entrain with our physical, emotional and energetic bodies, or the chakra system, bringing the possibility of clearing, cleansing and balancing at the cellular level.

According to quantum physics, every cell is made up of small pieces of vibrating matter joined together by magnetic forces. It is believed that during illness or disease the vibration in the cells is less effective or there is a reduction in the frequency of the vibration. Alternative health practitioners suggest that when your body is exposed to healing sounds, the sound vibration helps to raise the frequency of your body which brings mental and physical health improvements and spiritual enhancements.

Why sound healing works

Since the human body is over seventy percent water and since sound travels five times more efficiently through water than through air, sound frequency stimulation directly into the body is a highly efficient means for total body stimulation, especially at the cellular level. Direct stimulation of living cellular tissue using sound frequency vibration has shown marked cellular metabolism and therefore a possible mobilization of a cellular healing response” ~ Jeffrey Thompson, Director of the Center for Neuroacoustic Research at The California Institute for Human Science. (He calls his technique “Sonic Induction Therapy” and “biotuning” and he has had excellent results in the treatment of dyslexia, attention deficit disorders, and certain learning disabilities.)
